Homes4life (H4L) was developed as a response to the lack of move on accommodation for service users across all Bradford Cyrenians services. In partnership with private Landlords in the district we are able to offer long term units of accommodation for our service users. All the accommodation is fully furnished and each service user receives a comprehensive support package relevant to their needs.
All service users are offered a high level of support, a minimum of 2 support visits per week by a Support Officer. The support offered is identified and delivered through our needs assessment, risk assessment and support planning procedures.
Support can be offered around becoming tenancy ready, work ready, accessing training and education. Improving physical/mental health, budgeting and paying bills, and help with benefits. Staff can act as an advocate by engaging other specialist services and joint working with those agencies.
Service users can be referred internally from any of Bradford Cyrenians services, commissioned or non-commissioned. Clients referred to H4L must be those presenting with low needs but who require extra support over a longer period.
The housing scheme is run on the housing first model. Housing First is an internationally evidence-based approach, which uses independent, stable housing as a platform to enable individuals to begin recovery and move away from homelessness.
Through the provision of intensive, flexible and person-centred support, 70-90% of Housing First residents are able to remain housed. Having a place to call home also leads to improvements in health and wellbeing, and reduces ineffective contact with costly public services.
